Redang Island is one of the largest islands on the east coast of Malaysia.
Redang Island is one of the largest islands on the east coast of Malaysia. It lies in the South China Sea and is part of the Kuala Nerus district of Kuala Terengganu. The archipelago is known for its crystal clear waters, which make for a scenic dive to the pristine coral reefs and underwater world
As Redang is under the Marine Park Conservation Area, there is an entrance fee of RM30 for adults and RM15 for children. However, the island offers a relaxing and peaceful time on crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. The most famous beach is Taaras Beach. Long Beach, Teluk Dalam Beach and Mutiara Beach are other popular beaches. Most resorts and hotels are located on Long Beach, which is also known as Pasir Panjang
The island has several renowned resorts that offer a luxurious stay with water activities such as diving and snorkelling. All year round, except during the monsoon season, the water is so clear that you can see various marine life such as fusiliers, turtles, bumphead parrotfish, squid and small black reef sharks. Each resort has its own dive school, with the most famous schools being Redang Bay Divers and Redang Divers. These dive schools teach you how to dive and even offer licences called Open Water Licence or PADI. Diving costs about RM 100 per dive. It is cheaper if you combine it with your stay package at the resort. Although Redang Island is known for diving, snorkelling is also an option. Equipment is provided by the resorts and schools and can be rented or even purchased.
